Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Trailer Debut Reveals Team Sonic vs. Shadow in the Ultimate Showdown

Sonic and his friends are back, and this time they have to face the Ultimate Life Form, Shadow the Hedgehog, in the upcoming sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Paramount Pictures dropped the first trailer today, revealing that Sonic (Ben Schwartz) and his friends reluctantly team up with Dr. Ivo Robotnik (Jim Carrey) to deal with the rogue alien, Shadow (Keanu Reeves). In the upcoming sequel, Sonic, Knuckles (Idris Elba), and Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) team up to face the mysterious villain, Shadow, who has powers unlike anything they’ve faced before. With their abilities completely outmatched, Sonic must now forge an unlikely alliance with Dr. Robotnik to protect the planet.

The upcoming film also stars returning cast members James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, and Lee Majdoub. Newcomers include Alyla Browne and Krysten Ritter, plus Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog. It also appears that Carrey will be putting in double-duty for the film, playing Ivo Robotnik and his grandfather, Dr. Gerald Robotnik.

Jeff Fowler, who directed the first two films, is back to direct the threequel from a script by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington. The film is produced by Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara, and Hitoshi Okuno. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be hitting theaters on December 20.
