Adam Copeland Considers Humiliating Career Exit as a Heel

It’s hard to imagine any sort of final match scenario for Adam Copeland that the fans would boo. As John Cena proved, even fans who want to hate someone can get sentimental when they know it’s the last run.

That hasn’t stopped the former Edge from speculating, though, on how he’d like to go out as a villain. On The Ariel Helwani Show, Helwani asked him if he’s considered yet how he’d like to go out. “Cope” responded by looking back at a colleague’s (admittedly temporary) finale, and imagined one-upping it.

“Remember when Jericho left WWE at the time, and he got, like, thrown in a dumpster?” asked Copeland. “Imagine if your final appearance ever is that. ‘I don’t want to go! I don’t want to go!’ And you just you want to stay, and you’re crying, and you’re in a dumpster…you know, if you’re a heel, obviously.”

“That, to me, would be so much fun, and then I also think you’d have people expecting you to come back and you just never do. There’s something kind of Andy Kaufman about that.”

The late Bobby “The Brain” Heenan famously left the then-WWF by having Gorilla Monsoon throw him out the door, which was close…but then he resurfaced in WCW and had a continued career. Could Copeland really have the resolve to never come back after a heel humiliation? Maybe we’ll find out.
