AEW considered having a training center in Asheville, North Carolina earlier this year, according to a new report. According to Fightful Select the company talked earlier this year about having a training facility. The discussions centered around the idea of it being located in Asheville.
Asheville is the hometown of Adam Copeland, Beth Phoenix and FTR. The site notes that the foursome would have helped train and develop talent there. However, rumors in AEW state that the company decided not to do it due to the cost associated with the matter.
The site notes that the tentative plans were why Steven Borden, Sting’s son, went to Asheville to train.
The report adds that AEW does have a building with a ring that talent can have access to. Before Ace Steel was released from the company in 2022 due to his involvement in the infamous post-AEW All Out brawl, discussion was had about him potentially leading a developmental situation for AEW.
AEW will present their latest PPV, WrestleDream, on Saturday night at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. The show will air live on PPV, Triller, HBO Max, and Prime Video. 411 will have live coverage of the show, as per usual.
