At last weekend’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 event, AEW introduced its new Death’s Door steel cage. Now, a trademark has been filed on the term with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) (h/t Fightful).
AEW filed a trademark application for the name of the new structure on Monday, June 29. The trademark filing description reads, “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of professional wrestling programs and events.”
Death’s Door is a circular cage that surrounds the ring and doesn’t have a roof. As previously reported, Tony Khan credited AEW co-executive producer Mike Manury with the idea for the cage during the show’s post-show media scrum. The Death’s Door cage match saw Team Briscoe (Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Konosuke Takeshita, and Darby Allin) beat Team DCMJF (MJF, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Jake Doyle, Kazuchika Okada, and Andrade El Ídolo) by pinfall.
