AEW Announces New National Title, First Champion To Be Crowned At Full Gear

AEW is adding yet another title to its lineup in the AEW National Championship, with the first champion to be crowned at Full Gear. Tony Khan announced in a video before the show that they are adding a new championship in the National Title. He noted with Tony Schiavone that the title will be defended in other companies including ROH, NJPW and more.
The championship will be decided in a Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear on November 22nd. Khan spoke during the video about the National Heavyweight Championship’s history in NWA. The title was a mainstay of Georgia Championship Wrestling. It was deactivated in 1986 after it was unified with the NWA United States Championship.
The new title will give AEW four men’s singles championships. It joins the AEW World Championship, AEW Unified Championship (itself the combined International and Continental Titles), and the AEW TNT Championship.
Competitors for the Casino Gauntlet Match have yet to be revealed. AEW Full Gear takes place from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and airs live on PPV.
