AJ Lee Explains How Her New WWE Contract Pays Her The Way CM Punk Is Paid

WWE: Unreal Season 3 was released by Netflix today, and the episode highlights the long-awaited return of AJ Lee to WWE. During the episode, AJ Lee discussed the moment when she signed her new WWE contract, explaining how it represented what she fought for during her earlier WWE run.

Lee revealed that her new WWE contract had her getting paid comparably to her husband, fellow WWE Superstar CM Punk, who had made his own return to WWE two years earlier in November 2023. AJ Lee explained (via Fightful), “One of the things I fought for back in the day wasn’t just for equal footing. It was let’s get paid the way the men get paid. To know I’m signing this contract where I am getting paid the way my husband’s getting paid, where I’m being treated like an equal, it was a boss-ass moment, I’m not gonna lie *Laughs*.”

Lee made her shocking WWE return on the September 5 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. She would make her in-ring return at WW Wrestlepalooza later that month, successfully teaming up with husband CM Punk against the rival husband-and-wife team of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.
