– Fightful Select has an injury update on AEW wrestler Santana. As previously reported, Chris Jericho revealed that Santana suffered a recent injury that could keep him on the shelf for up to eight months.
As previously noted, Santana suffered the injury during the Blood & Guts match on Dynamite, where he was taken away for medical detention. Per the report, AEW sources indicated that Santana is dealing with an ACL injury, after he revealed the nature of his injury to several people.
Additionally, he attended a wrestling event in Puerto Rico this weekend in order to relinquish a title he held, and he was reportedly seen using crutches at the show. Also, The Proud & Powerful member informed people that he had not yet had surgery.
AEW and Santana have not yet confirmed his injury status. However, the report notes that AEW sources expect the wrestler to miss about eight to 12 months.
AEW is going to reportedly continue to use Ortiz on TV, and there have not been any plans of halting his appearances that AEW sources have heard about. As noted, Santana and Ortiz are rumored to not be on great terms at the moment. They haven’t worked with each other in a traditional tag team match in months. Even before Santana sustained this injury, Ortiz had already began accepting solo bookings.
Seemingly commenting recent rumors and reports, The wrestler tweeted earlier today, “I’ll speak soon.”
