Backstage Note on Possible Main Event for WWE SummerSlam Night 2

WWE has announced the main world title bouts for WWE SummerSlam 2026, with Seth Rollins challenging Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Title. For the WWE Undisputed Title, CM Punk defends the belt against former champion Cody Rhodes. However, we still don’t know which title bouts will headline Nights 1 and 2.

Although WWE has not announced the main events, this week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that it’s believed that the main event of Night 2 will be Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins. This would suggest that CM Punk vs. Rhodes will likely main event Night 1 on Saturday, August 1.

Additionally, The Observer reports that, although it’s not yet been announced, a singles match between Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair was part of the premium live event’s original lineup, and that still looks to be the direction WWE is going based on current storylines. Here’s the currently announced lineup for both nights:

* Undisputed WWE Championship Match: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
* World Heavyweight Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins
* Hell in a Cell Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
* Women’s World Championship Match: Liv Morgan (c) vs. IYO SKY
* WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Penta (c) vs. Chad Gable
* LA Knight, Solo Sikoa & Royce Keys vs. Jacob Fatu & The Usos

WWE SummerSlam 2026 will air live on the ESPN App in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
