Backstage Note on WWE Raw Angle for Patrick Mahomes

– As previously reported, NFL star Patrick Mahomes appeared on last night’s WWE Raw, appearing alongside WWE US Champ Logan Paul for some round two picks. The TV angle had Mahomes portraying a heel alongside Paul against Jey Uso, despite the show being held in Kansas City, where Mahomes plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. According to Dave Meltzer on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, the Raw segment was one that was put together by WWE sponsor, PRIME, which is Logan Paul’s sports drink brand.
PRIME reportedly sponsored the segment due to Paul and Mahomes’ association with the brand, which cast Mahomes in the heel role. According to Meltzer, PRIME wanted Patrick Mahomes and Paul to work together in an onscreen angle, which is why Mahomes played a heel alongside Logan Paul. The segment also saw the return of Braun Strowman, who cased off Logan Paul and had some words with Mahomes before Jey Uso pulled him away.
