Backstage Notes on How Rok-C Signed With ROH
– Fightful Select has a report on ROH bringing in Rok-C, who became the new ROH Women’s World champion last month after winning a tournament to crown a new champion. According to the report, Rok-C was originally set to take part in a tryout for ROH when the company was planning to relaunch the women’s division before the pandemic put the company on a temporary hiatus.
Ultimately, the tryout never took place. Jonathan Gresham later took over the creative direction for the women’s division and got into contact with Rok-C to get her in touch with Delirious to be booked for ROH TV. Maria Kanellis later approached Rok-C at the TV tapings and asked her if she wanted to be in the women’s championship tournament. She then received a contract offer a short time later.
As previously reported, ROH announced that the company is going on hiatus after Final Battle in December. Wrestlers were informed during a Zoom call this week that if their contracts were expiring at the end of the year, they will not be renewed.
