Backstage Rumor on Released WWE Superstars Requesting to Forego Non-Compete Clauses
– Fightful Select has an update some of the recently released WWE Superstars over the last two months. According to the latest update, multiple talents who were released earlier this year have requested from WWE if they can forego their typical 90-day non-compete clauses.
The requests have ranged from the entire duration of the clause to as short as just a few days before they are scheduled to end. WWE officials have reportedly been receptive to the idea, and John Laurinaitis, who returned as WWE’s Head of Talent Relations last March, is said to be the main point of contact for the released wrestlers getting these periods approved.
While it’s unknown if the released wrestlers will still be paid for the entire non-compete period if they want to end the duration just a few days earlier, WWE is said to be “more lenient than ever” regarding inquiries for the non-compete timeframe.
