– The WrestleVotes Twitter account had an update today on the current WWE World Title situation. Roman Reigns currently holds both the WWE Universal and WWE World Heavyweight Championships as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. However, this leaves WWE with only one current world champion, and Reigns is now working a much lighter schedule than he has in the past.

According to the report, WWE wants to have two world champions for WrestleMania season, but WWE officials also do not want Roman Reigns to lose “at all” before WrestleMania 39. Also, Triple H and the creative team are said to be open to “all things” from a creative standpoint.

WrestleVotes reported, “The situation w/ the world titles & Roman Reigns is ‘complex’ according to a source. They would like to go into ‘Mania season’ & WrestleMania itself with 2 champions, but they also don’t want Reigns losing AT ALL prior. I’m told HHH & co are open to all things creatively here.”

Of course, one speculative idea is that WWE could always put together a matchup where Roman Reigns loses possession of one of his titles, without actually “losing” from a pinfall or submission hold, such as a Triple Threat or Fatal 4-Way Match. This would technically allow Roman Reigns to stay “unbeaten” and possibly lose his WWE Championship, while his longer Universal title reign, which has lasted for over two years, remains untouched.

Reigns retained his undisputed championship earlier this month against Drew McIntyre at WWE Clash at the Castle. It’s rumored that he will defend the title next month at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.

Currently, Reigns has only held the WWE Championship for 162 days, since he won it from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38. WrestleMania 39 is scheduled for April 1-2, 2023. It will be held over two nights at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
