Backstage Update on Vince Russo Having Talks With WWE

As previously reported, rumors surfaced from Conrad Thompson about former WWE and WCW creative booker Vince Russo having talks with WWE President Nick Khan about returning to the company. It was later reported by Fightful Select that Russo had conversations with Khan, and he either visited WWE HQ or was set to visit there at some point. However, it’s unknown how serious the talks were between the two sides.

PWInsider Elite (via WrestlePurists) has released a report with more details regarding the story. According to PWInsider’s update, the story “making the rounds” in WWE is that Russo initiated contact with Khan, seeking a possible role with WWE, but nothing reportedly came of it.

Additionally, WWE sources confirmed with PWInsider that there was no movement toward hiring Vince Russo at any point this year. One source within WWE reportedly joked that Russo would soon “milk” the rumor for his podcast. The same source also joked that Khan might circle back with Russo to sign him to a WWE Legends deal similar to Necro Butcher.

Russo himself has yet to comment on the rumors.
