Backstage Update on WWE TV Return of CM Punk

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has an update on the planned WWE TV return of former World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk. As previously reported, there’s been a lot of chatter surrounding Punk’s WWE status this week, but it was later reported that Punk is expected to return to TV with a new storyline soon.

WrestleVotes Radio spoke to several sources from within WWE, who all expect Punk to be back on WWE TV as soon as July. Additionally, Punk is reportedly expected to have a significant role leading into this year’s WWE SummerSlam.

One source informed WrestleVotes that signs point to Punk returning on or by Monday, July 6. That edition of Monday Night Raw is being held in Punk’s hometown of Chicago at the Allstate Arena. Although WWE has not officially confirmed that date for Punk’s return, the commonly held belief is that his TV return is around the corner.

Additionally, WrestleVotes Radio’s latest update says none of the WWE sources indicated there was any concern regarding the recent rumors or speculation regarding Punk having issues with WWE or TKO management. It’s also said that there was no discussion of any issues between the two parties. However, the report notes that if there are any concerns, the issues “are being kept exceptionally quiet.”

CM Punk last appeared on the post-WrestleMania 42 edition of WWE Raw, where he was confronted by reigning WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes. During the segment, Punk told Rhodes to stay ready because you never know when a title opportunity might fall out of the sky.
