A new report has more details on the debunked rumors surrounding CM Punk’s absence from WWE TV and his status with the company. As reported earlier, PWInsider threw cold water on claims that Punk was upset with WWE, rumors that began circulating on social media as of late. The rumors became one of the top trending topics on social media despite not coming from any actual news outlets.

Fightful Select has posted a report breaking down the rumors and reporting what they’ve been told about them, which in basically every case runs counter to said rumors. The rumors, without giving them too much voice or validity, were basically that Punk and WWE had some sort of issue leading to him wanting out that ranged from everything to AJ Lee’s booking, a WrestleMania incident, and Punk politicking for something in particular at WrestleMania.

For complete, 100% clarity, Fightful made it clear that none of the claims were able to be verified. The report notes that they spoke with “dozens” of people in WWE and none have heard that Punk wanted out of his contract. None of the talent had heard or believed that he was asked to take a pay cut.

One source confirmed PWInsider’s report that Punk has a storyline coming up soon and said new merchandise and dates are being produced and planned for this summer for him. The same source said he is not off TV for disciplinary reasons.

The report goes on to reiterate what was said yesterday, that Lee is not imminently planned for a TV return. But it goes on to say that Lee was never planned to be a full-time performer despite reports stating otherwise, and WWE sources “scoffed” at the notion that Punk was made over something about Lee. The plans for Lee’s return run were planned by the time they came back and she completed the run as planned.

The site notes that even sources who have never been keen on Punk returning to the company claimed they’ve heard nothing to these rumors or that he wanted out.

There was a weird speculation point on Twitter of Punk potentially returning to AEW if he leaves WWE. There are those in AEW who have long believed that the two sides will mend fences even if he never returns to the company.

Long story short (too late), there is nothing discernable to any of the rumors.
