WWE Hall of Famer and former SmackDown co-lead writer Brian James, aka Road Dogg, recently got into an argument with The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer on social media over the AEW tag team division. The response was prompted by a new hip-hop music video with Austin Gunn, where he released his rendition of “Logic – Dead Presidents III,” and James commented that the tag titles are beneath the likes of Austin and Colten Gunn in AEW, along with “every other team” in AEW.

Brian James initially wrote, Tag titles are beneath them at this point, as is EVERY OTHER TEAM, and I mean EVERY TEAM @AEW. @TonyKhan, I heard you didn’t sleep……you’re sleeping on these boys #OUDK #SUCKIT #Nothing2lose

Meltzer took exception to James’ comments, stating that the idea that the tag titles are beneath wrestlers in AEW is a “fed brain issue.” Meltzer stated, “I will say this. For all the people who championed him coming to AEW, saying the tag titles are ‘beneath’ Austin & Colten Gunn shows a lack of understanding of AEW tag titles. They weren’t beneath Omega & Page, nor Christian & Copeland, nor FTR, nor Young Bucks. Saying tag titles are ‘beneath’ anyone is a fed brain issue. Ospreay has the trios titles in NJPW. Mistico has a tag title in AEW. Don’t even get me started on history like Funks or Stevens & Patterson.”

Brian James later responded to Meltzer, writing, “My bad Dave, I forgot, when it comes to wrestling, ONLY your opinion matters. 5 star tweet sir!” Meltzer then replied, “Cool response. Now explain why belts held by Omega & Page, FTR, Young Bucks, Christian & Cage are ‘beneath’ anyone without name-calling.” You can view their exchange below.

As previously reported, Brian James exited from his role in WWE earlier this year. It was rumored that he’d be joining TNA Wrestling in a creative role, but it was later reported that the talks between the two parties had “stalled” and were not close to reaching an agreement.
