– During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray responded to recent comments by Bill Goldberg following Goldberg’s recent retirement match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. On The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg spoke about how his son, Gage Goldberg, wants to mainly focus on a career in football right now, but his son views a career in wrestling or WWE as a “back-up plan.” Bully Ray noted how the recent comments Goldberg made about his son viewing wrestling as a “back-up plan” could hurt his son’s hopes for a potential WWE career in the viewer.

Bully Ray stated on Goldberg’s comments (via WrestlingInc.com), “And then to say the WWE and pro wrestling was going to be the fallback plan for the son. Talk about setting the kid up for not success because now we have the bad taste in our mouth from what Goldberg said in the interview with Helwani.”

Bully Ray continued, “Now he’s telling us that, ‘Well, my son’s passion is football but if things don’t work out there, he can always fall back on wrestling and he’ll have the Goldberg name. So you guys gonna welcome him with open arms, right?’ No! Not after what you just said.”

Goldberg lost to Gunther in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, competing for Gunther’s World Heavyweight Title. As noted, Goldberg later made some heavily debated and controversial statements while chatting with Helwani, noting his disappointment with how his match was built up, and his retirement speech being cut off shortly after it began due to NBC cutting off the live broadcast theme. The full retirement speech was later posted by WWE on its YouTube channel.
