Busted Open Hosts Say Nick Khan Doesn’t Want Them To Stop Being Critical Of WWE

Busted Open Radio’s Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca were happy with how they were treated at WWE SummerSlam and say Nick Khan doesn’t want them to become “shill radio.” As noted, WWE and SiriusXM announced late last month that Pro Wrestling Nation 24/7 was being replaced by WWE Radio, which will include Busted Open. That led to immediate concern that the show will stop being critical of WWE and will stop covering AEW. The hosts have pushed back against that notion, though some fans weren’t convinced when occasional co-host Thunder Rosa announced her exit soon after.
Bully, LaGreca, and Tommy Dreamer were shown in the front row at WWE SummerSlam, and Bully & LaGreca spoke about their SummerSlam experience on Monday’s episode of the show. The two spoke about how WWE treated them well, while LaGreca said that Nick Khan has told them he doesn’t want them to change. You can see the highlights below, per F4W Online:
Bully Ray On WWE’s Treatement Of Them At SummerSlam:
“Thank you to WWE for the great, great treatment. Shout out to Nick Khan, who got up out of his front-row seat to walk halfway around the stadium to come up to us, say hello, tell us how great he thought the partnership was going so far, asked us if we need anything, if we were comfortable. Thank you, Nick Khan, for being a complete gentleman.”
Bully Ray On WWE Not Putting Them In the Back Rows Despite Past Criticism:
“You turned around and you looked at me and you said, ‘You’re right, this is the way it’s supposed to be.’ Because I hated the fact that you were not treated as well as you should have been treated in the past by other companies. Especially with the way you opened your arms to them and gave them platforms.”
LaGreca On What Nick Khan Told Them About Their Coverage:
“He said to all of us, he said how much he enjoys it, how much he loves it, and he doesn’t want things to change. And then he pointed — he put his finger on my chest and pointed at me and said, ‘You, especially you, I don’t want you to change at all.’ And then he used an example of somebody that he really enjoyed listening to that gave a little bit of shill radio and he just stopped listening because it’s not a product that you want to listen to. The reason that they wanted to partner with us, and the reason that they wanted to be a part of our brand, is that they love what we do.”
