Cameron Grimes Announces He’s Been Released by WWE

– Former WWE NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes has been released by WWE. Grimes took to social media this earlier today, announcing that he was released by the company. You can see the video he shared on his X account. In a video he shared on social media, Grimes stated the following:

“I just got off the phone with WWE. Unfortunately, I have been released from my contract. Five years ago, the last thing I was able to tell my father, Tracy Caddell, was that I signed with the WWE. I loved working here. I loved working at the WWE. I want to thank everyone who’s helped me. I can list off a name of people, but the video might be a little bit too long. Even though you guys haven’t seen me in the past year, I’ve been trying my best to learn from everybody that comes through, everybody that would let me sit there and listen. But if you’re a mine, I’m here to let you know there’s a damn fire lit under my ass, man! All I want to do is work. All I’ve ever wanted to do is work. This is all I’ve got, man. But hey, the good news is, there ain’t going to be no stopping Trevor Lee now, baby, let me tell you that.”

He added, “This isn’t what I wanted to do at all. The WWE is all I’ve ever wanted to do and be, but if I have to go somewhere else now to show ’em that they’ve missed out, I guess that’s what I gotta do. Thank you guys.”

Grimes was drafted to the SmackDown roster in the 2023 WWE Draft. It was rumored there were big plans in the works for Grimes and that WWE officials, including Triple H, were very high on the 30-year-old wrestler. However, he’d only end up competing on TV a handful of times. He last wrestled on the April 12 edition of SmackDown, losing to Bron Breakker.

Grimes previously competed in TNA/Impact Wrestling as Trevor Lee, winning the X-Division and World Tag Team Titles. This increases the latest group of WWE talent releases to seven. Here’s the current list:
