Christy Hemme Looks Back At ‘Going Off-Script’ During Divas Search Segment

Christy Hemme was part of the infamous “Diss the Divas” segment during the 2004 Divas Search, and Heme recently looked back at the segment. The August 30th, 2004 segment included Diva Search contestants Hemme, Carmella DeCesare, Amy Weber and Joy Giovanni as they cut promos on each other. DeCesare was famously unpopular among the other contestants and took a lot of distinctly non-PG verbal abuse in the segment.
Hemme was asked about the segment during her recent interview with SoCal Val for The Velvet Ropes on WrestlingNews.co. She noted that none of it was scripted and that it shocked Stephanie McMahon. You can see the highlights below:
On ‘Going Off-Script’ During the Diva Search:
“Well, first of all, none of it was scripted. And even the thing… I can’t even repeat what I said. But when I came backstage, I just remember Stephanie McMahon going, ‘Where… where did you hear that from?!’ Like they just didn’t expect it to come out of my mouth, right? … But honestly like, I mean, none of it was scripted, and it was shocking.”
On Carmella DeCesare’s Reaction:
“I remember Carmella [DeCesare] was really hurt. Like really hurt because I remember we all like chose her. And it wasn’t intentional… And I really did feel really bad afterwards because it it did hurt her. And I remember apologizing to her sincerely.”
