Claudio Castagnoli Captures CMLL World Title At Viernes Espectacular

Claudio Castagnoli is the new CMLL World Heavyweight Champion, winning the title at CMLL Viernes Espectacular. The AEW star defeated Gran Guerrero for the championship at Friday’s show.

Castagnoli had accepted an open challenge from Guerrero earlier in the week. He got the win via the Neutralizer and a pinfall.

This marks Castagnoli’s first reign with the championship. He ended Guerrero’s reign at a hefty 1,117 days. Guerrero won the title from Hechicero at the November 7th, 2022 edition of CMLL Lunes Clasico.

Castagnoli’s Death Rider allies Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia were present for the match. You can see a clip from the match below:
