As previously noted, CM Punk teamed with Shinsuke Nakamura during today’s WWE Supershow live event in Tokyo, Japan, concluding WWE’s two-day tour of the country. After their main event matchup, Punk got on the microphone, praising Nakamura as a “legend,” and then he introduced former WWE Superstar AJ Styles to give him a big sendoff to the Japanese wrestling audience.

During the main event of last night’s show, Punk and Nakamura teamed up in a winning effort against The Vision (Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker). After the match, Nakamura got on the microphone and addressed the fans in his native language. CM Punk then took the mic and cut a promo, putting over Nakamura and the fans in Tokyo.

Punk stated, “I wish I could speak fluent Japanese, but I think a lot of you understand English. It is a privilege for me to be able to wrestle in front of the greatest wrestling audience in the world, the Japanese wrestling fans.” After praising the fans, Punk continued, “It’s a little ironic, when I was a little and I fell in love with pro wrestling, all I ever wanted to do was go to Japan, and I think a lot of Japanese wrestlers, they wanted to be American cowboys, they wanted to be Terry Funk.”

Punk added, “So to me, it’s very beautiful that I get to come to Tokyo and I get to share a ring with a legend like Nakamura. You mentioned Asuka, Kairi, Giulia, Iyo Sky, all the Japanese Superstars that it’s my privilege to share a locker room with, there’s somebody in the locker room that shares the feelings I have about Japan, and the culture, and the Japanese wrestling fan.

CM Punk then introduced former WWE Champion, AJ Styles, who was also in action at today’s live event. Punk went on, “And tonight was more than likely the last time he will ever wrestle in Tokyo or in Japan as a whole. I would like to bring out the face that runs the place, the Phenomenal AJ Styles.”

Following an introduction by CM Punk, AJ Styles then came out to the ring, shaking hands with and embracing Punk before taking the microphone next. After a huge ovation from the fans, Styles thanked the fans for everything they’ve done for him and his career.

Styles remarked, “I don’t know where I would be without you. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be here in the WWE if it wasn’t for you, coming and wrestling in Japan.” Styles then had Nakamura read a heartfelt thank you to the fans in Japanese. Styles then bowed to the fans, receiving a huge ovation before embracing his former NJPW rival, Shinsuke Nakamura.

The rest of the WWE locker room in attendance then all came into the ring, honoring Styles and giving him his kudos, including Superstars such as Ivar, Penta, Bayley, Jey Uso, and more, while the fans cheered him on. Ivar and Punk then hoisted Styles on their shoulders for another big ovation, and the wrestlers posed for the fans.

As noted, Styles recently confirmed his plan to retire from in-ring competition next year, making this tour Styles’ likely final matches in Japan. A video of the post-main event celebration featuring CM Punk, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and other WWE Superstars is available below:
