CM Punk Joins Cast of Netflix’s The Bodyguard

Deadline reports that WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has lined up his next acting role. Punk will join the cast of the upcoming Netflix rom-com based on the Katherine Center novel, The Bodyguard. Not to be confused with the 1992 feature of the same name starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

Punk will join the cast opposite Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki, who lead the upcoming feature. The 2022 novel follows a no-nonsense bodyguard, Hannah Brooks (Meester), who is hired to protect a charming superstar actor, Jack Stapleton (Padalecki), over the holidays. Sparks eventually fly between the two and secrets unravel, as the Christmas season gets a lot more complicated.

Details on the film and how closely it will follow the novel are being kept under wraps. Punk is reportedly portraying the role of “Doghouse,” who is described as a “physically intimidating member of the security detail, who is known for his loyalty and humor.”

CM Punk joins the cast opposite Meester, Padalecki, Andie MacDowell, Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde, and Toby Sandeman. Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum will direct the feature from a script by Erin Cardillo & Richard Keith. Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo are producing the project under their Little Engine Productions banner, alongside Jared and Genevieve Padalecki for Living in the Asterisk.

Punk can currently be heard in Zootopia 2 as part of the Zebros duo, along with WWE’s Roman Reigns. He also appears in the SyFy series, Revival.

As previously reported, CM Punk is set to defend the title on the first WWE Raw of 2026 against Bron Breakker. The event takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Monday, January 5.
