CM Punk Says He Owes Sami Zayn No Apology, Would ‘Gladly’ Grant Him a Rematch

WWE Undisputed CM Punk joined Alan Hahn and Peter Rosenberg on ESPN New York this week to discuss tonight’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. CM Punk discussed winning the title from Sami Zayn, whether he’d grant Zayn a rematch for the WWE Title, and more. Below are some highlights:

“I understand how Sami feels. But I don’t have anything to apologize for. It’s the fantastic thing about sports in general is people have their favorites, and they will root for them. Um, and they live or die by that. So, when your team stinks and you’re you’re you’re still pulling for them, and you still have that hope, I know what it feels like. I’m a Chicago Cubs fan, but I don’t have anything to apologize to Sami about. If he wants a title shot, he can come get one. I’ll gladly give him a rematch.”

“I’m stoked to be at the Garden tomorrow night tagging with Cody, and it’s going to be kind of like a celebration of the Knicks winning the championship, and the fans being able to attend a parade. Come to the garden, wear your Knicks colors, you know, like I’m going to be wearing Knicks colors because I want to celebrate that team winning that for the fan base. I think it’s an amazing thing. I’m happy to see it.”

CM Punk and Cody Rhodes are set for tag team action later tonight at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Madison Square Garden. They will face Sami Zayn and Gunther in a tag team bout.

If Zayn and Gunther win, they will be added to Punk and Rhodes’ WWE Undisputed Title bout at SummerSlam. Tonight’s event will air live on the ESPN App in the U.S. and stream on Netflix internationally.
