Update On If CM Punk Wants To Return To AEW Or Not

The status of CM Punk in AEW has been in question since last September, when Punk was involved in a brawl with the Elite after All Out. FTR’s Dax Harwood has said that Punk wants to return but there are rumors that some in the company don’t want him back.

Fightful Select reports that Punk has reportedly told AEW multiple times that he wants to come back to the company. Punk is said to “still have the wrestling bug”, and has said Steve Kiern’s book made him miss the business.

Punk pitched several return scenarios to AEW, which includes a willingness to work with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks. However, as of a few months ago, the Elite were not as enthusiastic about working with Punk. It’s unknown if that has changed as AEW works on negotiating new deals with them.

Punk has also said he’s willing to return to AEW and be kept completely separate from the Elite. Some talent believe that the upcoming AEW Saturday show could help with that as there will be “some separation” of the AEW roster, but that’s not an official plan.

Punk is also open to working elsewhere, although it’s unknown if that means ROH, WWE or NJPW.
