Cody Rhodes Reportedly Asked To Audition for Role in Happy Gilmore 2

– The new sequel, Happy Gilmore 2, features multiple familiar faces from the world of professional wrestling, including AEW star MJF, WWE Superstar Becky Lynch, and WWE Superstar Nikki Bella. However, according to a new report by Fightful Select, another prominent WWE Superstar appeared to be up for a role in the film.

According to the report, former WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes was asked to read for a role in the new sequel. However, Cody Rhodes had scheduling conflicts that prevented it from happening, but there were said to have been talks between both sides. It’s unknown how likely Cody was to land the role outside of the production asking him to read for a part.

The filming schedule required MJF to take months off of AEW TV to film his parts in the movie. Lynch completed her work on the picture while on hiatus from WWE TV, returning earlier this year at WrestleMania 41. At one point, MJF reportedly left the shoot in order to work a match for AEW, which was discussed by stars Adam Sandler and Julie Bowen during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet.

Although Cody Rhodes did not land a part in Happy Gilmore 2, he does make an appearance as a bartender in the new comedy, The Naked Gun. The film hits theaters on August 1.

Additionally, Rhodes was also reportedly cast in Legendary Pictures’ new live-action Street Fighter reboot in the role of Guile. The film is slated to start shooting next month. Fellow WWE Superstar Roman Reigns was also reportedly cast in the role of Akuma for the upcoming reboot.

Happy Gilmore 2, featuring MJF and not Cody Rhodes, is streaming now on Netflix.
