Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton II has been officially confirmed.
Earlier this afternoon, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis took to social media to confirm that the bitter rivals will go head-to-head at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6.
This comes in the wake of Rhodes demanding a match against Orton on last night’s SmackDown, with Aldis stating that he’d try to set it up for the upcoming television special.
Later in the show, Cody and Randy engaged in a chaotic brawl after The Viper attacked Rhodes ahead of his Undisputed WWE Championship number-one contender’s match against Sami Zayn.
“BREAKING NEWS: At @WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6th in Atlanta, GA, @CodyRhodes goes 1-on-1 with @RandyOrton,” Aldis wrote.

Cody and Randy have been feuding since the Road to WrestleMania 42, during which Orton turned heel. They battled for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of ‘Mania 42 Night One, a match marred with interference from Pat McAfee.
Following his defeat to Cody in Vegas, Orton spent several months on the bench before he finally returned at SummerSlam: Minnesota Night One, costing Rhodes a potential victory over current Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk.
The bitter rivals will now lock horns at Sunday Night’s Main Event, which will emanate from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 6.
