During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley revealed his picks for his own personal Mount Rushmore of wrestling tag teams. D-Von also explained how The Dudley Boyz became like the Legion of Doom of their era. Below are some highlights:

D-Von Dudley on His Tag Team Mount Rushmore

“Well, I’m definitely gonna say LOD is one. LOD is definitely one. I was a big fan of the British Bulldogs. So that’s two for me. And then of course, Tully [Blanchard] and Arn [Anderson] and the Rock and Roll Express. And then if you have if if you can add another one, then I’ll say the Dudleys. But that is my Mount Rushmore. I watched them guys growing up. Learned a lot. And you know, Bubba [Ray Dudley/Bully Ray] and I was supposed to have been the second coming of the Road Warriors after our time being together. And as we started progressing and becoming who we became, it was like, okay, the Dudleys are the closest thing we have to LOD right now. They’re physical, they’re aggressive, they’re hardcore, you know, so there’s your there’s your LOD for this era. And I was happy to be put in that position, but I knew in order for us to have that and to really solidify that title as being like the Road Warriors, we had to go to Japan and conquer. And that’s exactly what we did. We went to Japan, we conquered that. We came back, did TNA, conquered that. We conquered WWE in the first half, but then we came back and did it again and helped promote teams like Enzo [Amore] and [Big] Cass, the Usos, the New Day, you know, we did all of that stuff with that young talent that now are just star big stars today. So, we’re happy that we had a hand in that, and I’ve got no regrets.”

His Thoughts on Today’s Tag Team Wrestling

“I love it because you have a lot of great tag teams, but they’re not pu they don’t push tag team wrestling like they did back when we were there. But remember, they said the same thing when we were coming up because people were used to the uh Heart Foundation, the British Bulldogs, the Killer Bees, Demolition, LOD, so you know, the Rock and Roll Express, the list goes on and on. They never saw the Dudleys, the Hardys, and Edge Christian take it to that next level. And that’s exactly what we did. And I used to always like to say that the Usos and the New Day are probably going to be the closest you’re gonna get to Edge and Christian and the Hardys. I always said that because I remember producing their matches cuz Vince saw it enough for me to be able to help produce those matches, and I was very grateful for that. But those guys were stars, and you knew it. And you know, there really wasn’t too much that I had to really put input on it. Those guys knew it. They were good. They tore down the house every time they got in the ring together, and they’ve had me memorable matches. So now when you see them now, it’s like watching Edge and Christian in a sense, or the Dudleys and the Hardys, because you knew what they did back then. Now you’re seeing it again, and they’re just they’re not just recreating history, but they’re making history.”

D-Von Dudley and Bully Ray were inducted together as The Dudley Boyz into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2018. At TNA Bound For Glory 2025, they wrestled their last match together, losing to The Hardys in a Tables Match.
