In speaking to Fightful Select, Dark Side of the Ring co-creator and executive producer Evan Husney revealed another topic for the popular wrestling docuseries that almost became an episode but ultimately fell through. Dark Side of the Ring nearly covered the infamous Heroes of Wrestling pay-per-view for an episode.
Husney explained to Fightful that the greatly maligned Heroes of Wrestling show nearly became the topic of an episode. The production reportedly made contacts and had interviews planned, but the idea was ultimately put on hold.
Heroes of Wrestling was nearly a topic for a recent season of Dark Side of the Ring, Fightful Select has learned. The pay-per-view was held in October 1999, headlined by Jim Neidhart and King Kong Bundy versus Jake Roberts and Yokozuna. Other WWE Hall of Famers who competed at the show included Greg Valentine, Bob Orton Sr., Tully Blanchard, and Abdullah the Butcher.
Dark Side of the Ring returns for its seventh season on July 7 on VICE TV. Topics for Season 7 include a three-parter on TNA Wrestling, The Big Bossman, Missy Hyatt, and more. “Jeff Jarrett’s TNA Parts One and Two” will air on July 7, while Part Three airs on July 14.
