As previously reported, AAA will hold this year’s TripleMania 34 over two nights, with Night 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Luxor Hotel & Casino. Meanwhile, Night 2 will be held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City. During today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer offered more insight about WWE and AAA opting to hold the first night of TripleMania 34 in the U.S. Meltzer noted that WWE is looking for “sponsors” and “TV deals” for AAA, and it was easier to bring the “important people” to facilitate those deals to Las Vegas.

Meltzer stated on why WWE opted to put Night 1 in Las Vegas, “Why? They had their reason, you know, obviously, for running Vegas. They’re looking for sponsors, they’re looking for TV deals, those people aren’t going to fly to Monterrey. They’re not going to fly to Mexico City. It had to be LA, or it had to be Vegas, and I think that it’s probably easier to get those people to Vegas.”

Meltzer continued, “They want to run in a nice, small location, and the smaller the location, in many ways, the more intimate the location, the better the show is for the people in the building.”

He added, “This show is not done to maximize a gate, or maximize attendance, it is done for, you know, the reason of getting this product to be watched live by important people who will then, in some form, invest in this product in the United States.”

Meltzer also explained that AAA was acquired and bought by WWE and TKO “to make money worldwide.” He stated, “This company was not bought to be the biggest company in Mexico. It was not bought for how popular it is in Mexico. It was bought to make money worldwide, in particular, the U.S. market, because there was so much more money in the U.S. market than there is in Mexico, and so that’s the story there.”

AAA TripleMania 34 Night 1 takes place on Friday, September 11 in Las Vegas. Night 2 is scheduled for Sunday, September 13 in Mexico City.
