As previously reported, former WWE employee Janel Grant recently spoke to POST Wrestling, where she spoke at length about her feelings toward former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, claiming she feels “forgiveness” for him, along with the situation of the allegations against McMahon for sexual misconduct.
During the Sept. 24 edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Grant’s recent interview, along with the fallout of her lawsuit, which led to McMahon stepping down from his role as Executive Chairman of the Board of WWE parent company TKO in January 2024. Meltzer assessed that despite all the wealth McMahon has acquired in his life, he’s not happy with it, as he’d rather be running WWE instead.
Meltzer noted that McMahon has not truly suffered any legal or economic punishment as a result of Grant’s lawsuit. He stated, “I mean, Vince suffered no economic harm, okay, he actually, you know, by putting the company in Ari’s [Emanuel] hands, the company grew. So, he made more money because of it. He did lose his company, which to him is an incredibly huge punishment, but it’s not legal punishment.”
However, Meltzer did express his thoughts that, in a way, McMahon did receive a form of punishment in that the WWE was ultimately taken away from him, and how WWE was McMahon’s whole life. He explained, “You know, some people will say that he got away with it. I don’t, because the reality is Vince’s life was WWE, his whole life, and it was taken away from him. And he absolutely is not happy about it, even though he is probably more wealthy due to it.” Meltzer added, “That’s not the game, you know. He wanted to be in charge of this company, you know, forever.”
Grant and McMahon jointly filed to move the lawsuit to arbitration earlier in July. There hasn’t been a new update on the lawsuit since that filing. Additionally, Grant recently received the Advocacy In Action Award from the Connecticut Alliance To End Sexual Violence.
