Judge Grants Motion To Move Janel Grant Lawsuit To Private Arbitration

The motion to move Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE into private arbitration has been granted by the judge overseeing the case. As reported on Thursday, lawyers for Grant, McMahon, and WWE filed a joint motion to move the lawsuit into arbitration. The motion was filed in the U.S District Court for the District of Connecticut.
Brandon Thurston reported on Friday that Judge Sarah F. Russell granted the parties’ joint motion. The order granting the motion noted that a joint status report must be filed by July 10th and that if they have not reached an agreement by then, a new hearing will be held in August.
For clarity, Thurston noted that the “agreement” required by July 10th appears to refer to the conditions of moving into arbitration and not necessarily a settlement of the entire lawsuit.
Janel Grant originally filed suit in January of 2024 accusing McMahon of sexual assault, trafficking, and abuse. McMahon, who has denied the allegations, resigned from TKO and WWE the next day.
