A new report has some details on the expectations within AEW of the New Day and Ilja Dragunov potentially joining the company. As has been reported extensively since they exited the company, the New Day have been considered likely to join AEW or at least make appearances there. WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select notes that people within the company are expecting Kofi and Austin Creed to make their AEW debuts at All In on Sunday.
The report makes it clear that this is not a confirmed “they will appear” and specified that two different sources relayed said that the feeling within the company is that the two are coming into the company.
As for Dragunov, a source in the company said that they believe AEW will reach out to him about potentially coming in “in the near future,” if such contact hasn’t already been made. Should those talks go well, Dragunov would obviously be likely to appear.
It was noted that many within WWE do not believe that Dragunov’s exit from WWE will be a “short-term” one on the level of Bronson Reed or Baron Corbin, who returned to the company after about a year and a half. The feeling within WWE is that Dragunov, who chose not to renew his deal and is a free agent, will be gone for a while.
