Dominic Garrini battled Raj Dhesi in the former Jinder Mahal’s first post-WWE match, and he recently spoke about the experience. Dhesi made his in-ring return at Black Label Pro’s Old Habits Die Screaming, taking on Garrini who had stepped in for the injured Kevin Ku. Garrini spoke about the match with Fightful’s Jeremy Lambert & Joe Pearl on In The Weeds and you can see highlights below:
On facing Dhesi: “It was very interesting. I never really had the opportunity to be somebody’s first match after their 30 days was up. Very tall. Very jacked. Very professional gentleman. He had come in with a game plan. He had some some homework on me, but all the homework he had done was old homework. The first two things he asked me was, ‘Do you still wear the rash guard? Do you not wear shoes still?’ Neither of those things are true anymore, I’ve changed around a little bit. He probably structured a match a bit on an older style, and once we got cooking, it was easier to figure things out. Very professional wrestler in that regard. I think he’s going to do well on the indies as much as he wants to work.”
On Dhesi’s reaction to the match: “He was extremely happy with how it went. I can tell he probably wanted to do a little more, he didn’t know how much he had in him. He said to me this was the longest period of inactivity when it comes to wrestling that he had, maybe ever. There is more meat on the bone if we want to go back to a rematch. He agreed to that. He was happy with how it turned out and thought it was great.”
