Drew McIntyre Addresses Home Crowd At Live Event After Emotional WWE Championship Triumph

Drew McIntyre delivered an emotional promo in front of his home fans at tonight’s WWE Live Event at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. Just 24 hours removed from his monumental Undisputed WWE Championship victory over Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell Match in Berlin, Germany, The Scottish Warrior walked out to a massive reception from his home fans with the coveted championship finally wrapped around his waist.
Before he got to work, i.e., went one-on-one with Shinsuke Nakamura, McIntyre addressed the crowd, reflecting on years of disappointment in his pursuits for the WWE Championship, his promise of bringing the prestigious title to Scotland all those years ago, and finally being able to bask in championship glory in front of a live crowd after being robbed of that feeling by COVID-19 in 2020.
Here’s what Drew McIntyre said:
“I assume a lot of you have been coming to the WWE Hydro shows for a few years now, yeah? You’ve probably heard me repeatedly make you a promise that I’m going to win the WWE Championship, and I’m going to bring it back to Scotland. The first time I won the WWE Championship, unfortunately, the world had to shut down on us, didn’t it? I won it twice, and I’m proud of what we did during that period. We gave people an escape during scary times, but I swore I would get the title back. There have been years and years of disappointment. I’ve been screwed over, but I kept believing in myself because I’ve got this weird condition that makes me mental. I’m Scottish.
“Last night, you couldn’t have written it any better. I won the WWE Championship, and the very first place I was able to walk out in front of live fans as the number one wrestler on planet earth was Glasgow, where I could fulfill my promise.”
