Wrestling has lost another ECW original as Paul Bykow, known to most fans for his work as The Equalizer, has passed away. PWInsider reports that Bykow passed away “recently,” though no details on his passing are known as of yet.
Bykow came into ECW through his friendship with Chris Candido and Tammy Sytch and appeared for the promotion in 1998 as a bodyguard for Lance Wright. He also worked as part of Danny Doring’s entourage when he came into the company.
After Bykow left ECW, he worked for a number of promotions in New Jersey such as National Wrestling Superstars during the 2000s. His final match was in 2013 when he and Jeff Noyze teamed up for a loss to Balls Mahoney and Johnny Ringo at FWF in Barnegat, New Jersey. PWInsider notes that he visited at a GCW event a few weeks ago in the state.
On behalf of 411, our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Paul Bykow.
