EVIL’s days in NJPW are coming to an end, with the company announcing his impending exit from the company. It was reported late last week that EVIL had given his notice and was headed to WWE. NJPW confirmed on Sunday that the House of Torture member will be leaving when his contract expires.

The company said in the announcement:

“After careful consideration and discussions with NJPW management, EVIL, who has been a long standing member of the NJPW roster will leave New Japan Pro-Wrestling at the expiry of his contract at the end of January 2026.

We apologise to fans for the sudden nature of this announcement. New Japan Pro-Wrestling wishes EVIL the very best in his future activities.”

It has not yet been officially confirmed that EVIL will be heading to WWE. He is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, IWGP Intercontinental Champion, a two-time Tag Team Champion, and a six-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion. He lost the NEVER Openweight Championship to Aaron Wolf at Wrestle Kingdom 20 at the start of the month, and was said to be considering outside options afterward.

EVIL began his in-ring career with NJPW in May of 2011. Aside from an excursion to ROH in 2015, he has been with NJPW for the entirety of his career.
