The first trailer for Takashi Miike’s Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo featuring Liv Morgan is online, hinting at the violent escapade to come. NEON Released the first trailer for the thriller, and you can check it out below.
The film, which is directed by Miike (Audition, Vistor Q, Idol × Warrior Miracle Tunes!), is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The trailer doesn’t give much story away but features flashes of violence, crime, and more.
Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, the “next chapter” in the Bad Lieutenant series, stars Shun Oguri, Lily James, Shotaro Mamiya, and Morgan. It stars Oguri as a corrupt gambler in the Metropolitan Police Force, who finds himself thrown into a tangled case after an enigmatic FBI agent (James) arrives in Tokyo to investigate the disappearance of a politician’s daughter (Morgan). Meanwhile, a deviant killer operating in the yakuza underworld seems to be shadowing their moves.
There’s no word on a non-festival release date yet.
