WWE Superstar Chad Gable almost competed at Bloodsport X in 2024. GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale revealed in a series of posts on social media (that have since been deleted) that the former WWE Intercontinental Champion was booked for the event. Unfortunately, Gable got pulled from the event by WWE at the last minute.
Lauderdale wrote on his X account, “We had Chad Gable booked for a Bloodsport once, but plans changed like an hour b4 it was to be announced.” He added, “We had a match graphic ready to go and everything… who wants to see it and who do you think he was gonna face????”
The matchup would’ve had Gable versus former ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham. Unfortunately, those plans fell through as WWE wanted Gable to focus on his WrestleMania 40 bout.
Lauderdale continued, “It was supposed to be Chad Gable vs. Jonathan Gresham, and it would have been one of the greatest matches of all time lol, but alas, WWE changed course at the last minute because Chad wanted to focus on WrestleMania (which I understand). It ended up being a landmark event regardless.”
Gable did not get booked for a match at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia that year. Ahead of the event, he lost the final fall in a Gauntlet Match to Sami Zayn on Monday Night Raw, enabling Zayn to challenge Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental Title at the show.
