A new report has an update on how long El Hijo del Vikingo may be out of action due to the knee injury he suffered earlier this month. As noted, the AAA star underwent surgery on his knee last week after suffering the injury before the July 1st episode of WWE NXT, where he was set to defend the AAA Latin American Championship against EK Prosper.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vikingo is expected to be on the shelf for about nine months following the surgery on his torn ACL.
The AAA Latin American Championship is vacant due to the injury, and an announcement on the title’s future will be made on this weekend’s episode of AAA On FOX. Last week’s show saw Dorian Roldan about to name Omos the new champion before Rey Mysterio, the General Manager of AAA, stopped him from doing so.
Assuming the nine-month timeline holds, Vikingo would be able to return somewhere in April of next year.
