A new report indicates that WWE officials were frustrated this week after the full episode of SmackDown reportedly appeared online before its scheduled broadcast.
This week’s episode was pre-taped in the O2 Arena in London earlier this week as the roster prepares itself for Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. However, the entire show had leaked online with commentary ahead of time.
According to PWInsider, the entire episode leaked across multiple online platforms ahead of Friday night. While the source of the leak has not been identified, the situation reportedly created “internal unhappiness” within WWE.
The report states that the full broadcast surfaced in several places before the show aired on television, leading spoilers to circulate ahead of airtime. No additional details have been provided on how the episode was leaked or whether WWE has determined the origin of the unauthorized release.
Although the cause remains unknown, the report notes that it is understandable why those within the company would be unhappy with the situation. The report also does not indicate whether the leak affected the production plans or the scheduled broadcast of WWE SmackDown.
