Jacques Rougeau Denies Throwing Tantrum At AEW Redemption, Says Video Was Previously Approved

Jacques Rougeau has pushed back against claims that he threw a “tantrum” at AEW Redemption over the Rougeau Family video he put together. As you may recall, it was reported in the week after the show that the segment lacked a video because Rougeau said he would handle it and when AEW saw it, it was “too long” and had footage and music AEW didn’t have rights to, as well as AI content the company didn’t want to use. The report had said that there was no time to do anything else and that Rougeau “threw a tantrum backstage” to the point that one official had to tell him to calm down or they would kick him out of the venue.
Rougeau recently spoke with Wrestling Life Online and disputed some of that information. He said that he got the video approved by AEW six weeks beforehand, but that he was told an hour before the show that it couldn’t be played because of the AI and music. He claimed that he was disappointed but said it was okay and that everything was fine after, with no tantrum.
“The night they were supposed to honor us, I had a video made six weeks before,” Rougeau said (per Fightful). “We made a video tribute to make it accurate. A simple video. We sent it to them. They approved it six weeks before. When we got there, an hour before, some guy came up to me and said, ‘Jacques, we won’t be able to play your video. There is some AI in there. There is some music.’ I said, ‘We have the rights to the music. Go tell your producer that this was approved six weeks ago. We need to put this video out. It’s our tribute.’”
He continued, “The guy goes to the truck and comes back five minutes later. ‘We won’t be able to do. The music.’ ‘No, the guy who did the music is right here. We have the rights.’ He went back to the truck again. I’m telling Raymond, ‘This is bullshit. They have to play this video. It’s our moment.’ Raymond and Jeremy Prophet were telling me, ‘It’s okay. Go out there and take what they want to give you.’ The guy comes back and says, ‘Jacques, we won’t be able to play it.’ I said, ‘Okay, no worries.’ I was very disappointed, but it is what it is. We went out there, had this beautiful segment, hugs with Tony Khan after. Everyone loved it.”
Rougeau ultimately posted the video online via his Facebook account.
