Jacques Rougeau Reportedly Had ‘Tantrum’ Over AEW Redemption: Buy In Segment

Jacques Rougeau was reportedly displeased with the Rougeau Family Celebration segment on the Buy In portion of AEW Redemption and is said to have thrown a “temper tantrum.” As noted, the pre-show for Sunday’s PPV featured a segment celebrating the Rougeau Wrestling Dynasty. It featured Jacques and Raymond talking about their family’s legacy and then taking out Rocky Romero, who came down to interrupt.

A report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the segment didn’t have a video because Jacques Rougeau said he would take care of it and gave them a video to play. However, the video was longer than AEW could accomodate and featured video and music AEW didn’t have rights to, as well as some AI that the company didn’t want to use. The video was given over the day of the show and there was no time to do another one.

According to the report, Jacques had a “tantrum” over the matter to the piont that one official had to tell him to calm down or they would kick him out of the venue.

Jacques ended up being booed during the segment, as he has a bad reputation in the local wrestling community there over a number of issues. The report notes that despite what people may think, this wasn’t a heel reaction from the crowd and was his being legitimately booed, something wrestling historian Pat Laprade also noted. Laprade said on Twitter:

“For those who think Jacques Rougeau got a heel reaction in Montreal, that wasn’t the case.

He was legitimately being booed.

He tried to save face with his comeback, but when you’re being honored in your hometown, calling out your haters and telling them to kiss your ass isn’t supposed to happen.

More and more fans are simply seeing him for who he really is.”

Jacques posted the tribute video on his Facebook account on Wednesday.
