Jade Cargill Says Losing Her Wig In The Ring Helped Her Overcome Her Biggest Fear

Jade Cargill says one of her biggest in-ring fears became a reality during a recent episode of WWE SmackDown. For a few moments, all she could think about was how to get through the match.

On the June 12 episode of SmackDown, there was a four-way match featuring Cargill, Charlotte Flair, Sol Ruca and Lyra Valkyria for the Queen of The Ring Tournament. During the match, she was hit with a double superplex that caused her wig to come off, forcing her to adjust it on the fly while the match continued.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio at Fanatics Fest, Cargill looked back at the moment and admitted it caught her completely off guard. She joked that she considered rolling under the ring or hiding under the referee’s shirt before realizing she simply had to keep wrestling. (via Fightful)

“I go viral for anything. My wig came off; I went viral. I go viral for everything. Let me tell y’all, you never know what you’ll do in the moment until it actually happens. I swore I was either going to get under the ref’s shirt, roll under the ring, and say, ‘Oh hell no, I’m out.’ I persevered, and I was very proud of myself. I kept going with one hand. That was my biggest fear. I overcame it.”

She took Sol Ruca’s Sol Snatcher, delivered Jaded later in the match with one hand, and spent much of the match trying to keep her wig in place with one hand. Charlotte Flair eventually won the match to advance in the tournament.

“I knew I had to do my job. I couldn’t just leave my girls like that. I had to go there and deliver. I thought I took the sol snatcher really, really with one hand. You never know what you’re going to do until you’re in the moment. I swear, I died about three times. I did it for y’all.”

She also revealed her immediate reaction, thinking about how to get down before calling out to Charlotte because there was only one safe way to land.

“I said, ‘F**k. F******k. How can I get down? Oh my God.’ It was only one way to get down. I was like, ‘Charlotte!’”

The former AEW TBS Champion had previously explained that the wig had been sewn and glued down, but the force of the move was enough to pull it loose and even take some of her own hair with it.

The moment quickly made the rounds online, but Cargill said she’s proud of how she handled it and finished the match. At SummerSlam, Cargill is scheduled to participate in a Five-way ladder match for the Interim WWE Women’s Championship on Night 2.
