– According to Dave Meltzer on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, he commented on Jeff Cobb in New Japan Pro Wrestling, noting that all signs point to the longtime free agent having signed with NJPW. Meltzer stated that Cobb has been telling people all year long that he has signed with a promotion, without revealing the name of the promotion. With Cobb being confirmed as part of this year’s G1 Climax 30 tournament, all signs now point to Cobb having likely signed a contract with NJPW.

Meltzer added that Jeff Cobb turned down a deal with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) for his recently signed contract and that Cobb’s goal was to always sign with New Japan. Additionally, Cobb saw his previous work in ROH as a stepping stone to get to New Japan.

Last month, Cobb stated in an interview with WrestlingInc.com, “Well, technically I’m a free agent until whatever group announces that I signed.”

Cobb is set to compete in the A Block for the G1 Climax. The tournament kicks off on September 19.
