Jim Ross Responds To Ric Flair’s Post Comparing Will Ospreay And Kenny Omega To Flair And Steamboat

On the latest episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross was asked about Ric Flair’s social media post following AEW All In, in which Flair said he respected Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega but that comparing them to himself and Ricky Steamboat was a stretch, and pointed to the volume of matches and hour-long Broadways he and Steamboat worked. Ross, who called the Flair-Steamboat matches, gave his reaction and also talked about where he would place Ospreay and Omega among the matches he has been on the call for. You can check out his comments below:

On Ric Flair’s post about the All In main event:

“Out of place. I thought it was unnecessary. I respect his opinion. That doesn’t mean I have to agree with it. Now you can say that to him, he’ll get mad at you, and then everything will be cool. Then you’ll start crying. Then he’ll hug you and everything will be over. I respect his opinion, and no one will ever make me say negative things about him or Ricky Steamboat. They were perfect for each other. Great booking. The fact they went an hour Broadway 200 times is troubling, because you mean you couldn’t figure out a finish? So anyhow, I don’t mind a Broadway, but it’s not something I relish. I didn’t agree with Ric’s tweet, or X, what are they called nowadays? But I respect his opinion. I appreciate the fact that he expressed an opinion on Ospreay and Kenny, which leads me to believe, I don’t know about you, Conrad, that maybe Ric watched the show.”

On where the match ranks among the ones he has called:

“Not really, not after doing 50 years of this shit. It’s hard, you know. Flair and Steamboat would be in my list. Stone Cold and Hitman Bret Hart would be in my list, but I’d need to give that some serious thought. It’s a very good question, but on that same list I just mentioned, obviously I’d put Omega and Ospreay.”
