Keep Refreshing For The Latest Results

NXT Universe! It’s Tuesday, and that can only mean one thing! That’s right, NXT is live tonight from the place where the true magic happens (with all disrespect to the basketball from Orlando), and we’re full speed ahead!

Fresh off of his victory in the main event ladder match last week, new NXT Men’s World Champion Joe Hendry will kick off the events tonight. Speaking of titles, we will have two matches with #1 contenders’ spots on the line. Josh Briggs and Elio LeFleur will face off in the finals of the latest Speed Title mini tournament to move on and face Jasper Troy. Meanwhile, WrenQCC (Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey) will face Zaria and Sol Ruca, with the special caveat that, whoever secures the victory for their team, will be the one to move on and face NXT Women’s World Champion Jacy Jayne.

Elsewhere, Jaida Parker will finally get Blake Monroe in the ring after weeks of interactions and even a parking lot brawl, while Hank and Tank will face off with Swipe Right (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes) from the Vanity Project. All of this and, of course, so much more in store for us tonight!

So, how is everyone doing on this Tuesday Night? Congratulations are in order for the Seattle Seahawks winning the 60th edition of the Superbowl on Sunday. Here is hoping that my Birds make it back next year, even if half of the roster and half of the coaching staff looks entirely different.

So, enough about me and enough about you, let’s get ready to see some prime NXT!

NXT

THEN!

NOW!

FOREVER!

TOGETHER!

Tonight, NXT is live from the Mother Base in Orlando, Florida! Vic Joseph and Booker T will continue to provide us with top-notch commentary!

Highlights from last week open the show. Chef HBK made Mr. Stone the interim General Manager of NXT with Ava leaving, and he wasted no time booking the ZaRuca and WrenQCC match, with the winner of the fall getting a shot at Jacy Jayne and her Women’s World Title.

SAY THIS NAME, AND HE APPEARS, I BELIVE IN (NEW WORLD CHAMPION) JOE HENDRY! Here comes the new Men’s World Champion to have a chat with us. Booker says he is going to lay out and let Joe have this moment, but he can’t help himself anyway lol.

WE BELIEVE chants for the new champion. He wants to thank you in believing in Joe Hendry. YOU DESERVE IT chants. While you never stopped believing in me, he did have a little bit of doubt in that ladder match. He had never been in a ladder match like this before, and he was on the outside, looking up at Ricky Saints. He was about to grab his second title, but the fans energy woke up Hendry. When he got to the top of the ladder, he sent Ricky and any doubt that he had crashing through that ladder.

In that moment, he realized there was no reason to doubt himself. When he became a two-time champion in amateur wrestling, that was a step. When he was TNA World Champion, that was a step. When his theme song charted, that was a step. And when he was called upon to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania, that was a step. But this moment here is validation, and they are going to take NXT to new heights!

The Vanity Project is here to interrupt. Wow, says Jackson Drake, that was so motivational that he could run through a wall right now. He is the Evolve Champion, and that means you shut your mouth when he is speaking. He thinks Hendry should start a podcast. Hendry goes viral for his music, but Drake goes viral for doing things in the ring you can only dream of.

SHUT THE HELL UP chants as Drake admits that they took out Hendry because he made Ricky’s girl disappear. Who does that?

Hendry says maybe you should worry more about coordinating your outfits and less on sneak attacks.

Drake says that Hendry that’s rich coming from a guy who looks like he was in a boy band that his mother would like.

Hendry says since you guys were man enough to admit that you took me out, I am man enough to admit that I will kick all of your asses!

And to wit, Hendry DOES a good job of taking about the Vanity Project, at least in the beginning. But the numbers game is too much for Hendry, as he gets laid out, and Drake poses with Hendry’s title.

ZaRuca are in the women’s locker room. Sol says that they are a great team, and they need to get back to what made them a great team. Whoever wins this match gets a shot at Jacy Jayne. Zaria says you have had too many chances already. She wants this to be her chance to take what she deserves. Zaria also advises that Sol stay out of her way. She walks off, and Sol says good talk.

Jaida Parker is walking and talking. Everyone who has crossed her has learned the hard way. Blake Monroe, congratulations baby, you wanted my attention, you got it! She makes her way out to the ring to open the action part of the show!

COMMERCIALS!

Mr. Stone is on his phone in the back. Keanu Carver approaches, and he wants to know why Drake is getting a title shot before him. Stone says he confronted the champion first, and HBK wants chaos. Carver says no problem and walks off. Stone goes to stop him, but he thinks better of it.

Jaida Parker vs. Blake Monroe

Parker doesn’t wait for the bell as she goes on the attack. The hot ref backs her off, the bell rings officially, and Monroe throws her overcoat at Parker. Both girls fight to the outside and back into the ring. German from Parker, but Monroe recovers and takes Parker down with a body scissor.

Parker turns the tables as Booker losses his mind over fans turning on you. Parker scooches her booty back to the middle of the ring to keep Monroe from the ropes, but that backfires, as Monroe reaches the opposite side of the ring. She snaps Parker face first off, the top rope and hits a Thesz Press.

Parker picks up Monroe, but Blake sneaks out the back door and shoves Jaida into the corner. Monroe sends her to the floor, and she trips Parker up, as she catches her throat on the edge of the announce desk. That’ll take us to the break.

Right before the break, Vic says that it has been made official, as Hendry will defend his NXT Men’s World Title tonight against Jackson Drake. Considering that Swipe Right will be fighting Hank and Tank, it should make that a one-on-one match at the very least, unless Carver destroys all of them.

Monroe has been complete control during the break. She mocks Jaida’s dance, but she runs into a few back elbows. Parker to the top, but Monroe with a handspring Rana to Parker. Monroe with a running basement dropkick, but she can’t follow up, as Parker cuts her off and proceeds to go on the attack.

Parker catches Monroe in the corner and lays in strikes. She springs off the middle rope and brings her booty down onto Monroe. Blake ends up on the floor, as Parker gives chase and continues the beating. Apparently, they were fighting on the floor too long, and the hot ref has counted them both out!
WINNER: Double countout
TIME: 9:00
THOUGHTS: It makes sense that you don’t want either of these ladies to lose this match, but a count out is kind of a lame way to end it. Fun for what we did get, though.
RATING: ***1/4

Post-match, Parker beats the shit out of everyone. She hits one of the ref’s with Hiptnotic by accident and then beats up some more refs and security on the floor, allowing Monroe to make her escape through the crowd.

The Progressive Spotlight is on Tatum Paxley. When she was with Izzi Dame, it felt like she was sinking all the time. She was looking for friendship and validation, but she realized that she didn’t need it. She played with dolls, but she let go. And she felt like she had lost herself, but she let go. When she did, she felt liberated. This feud with Izzi isn’t about control, it is about clarity. It is about stepping into the right mindset. She won’t walk out the version that Izzi wanted to create, she will walk out the version of Tatum Paxley that she wants to be.

COMMERICALS!

Kale Dixon wants to know what is wrong with Uriah Connors last week. He wants to know why he walked out on him, and Uriah says he doesn’t owe him an explanation. The New Age Legacy is here. Dixon walks off, and they try to recruit Connors as the last piece of their puzzle. Wait, they also wanted Charlie Dempsey, too, lol.

Some guy from some horror movie is apparently sitting behind Booker and Vic. That was a segment.

Both guys for the Speed tourney match are already in the ring.

Men’s Speed Tourney Match: Josh Briggs vs. Eli Knight

Briggs tries to impose his strength on Knight, but Eli with a flying crossbody. Briggs tries to cut him off, but Knight fights him off and hits a picture perfect moonsault from the top!

Briggs brings Knight into the ring and hits a back breaker. He follows that with a lariat to the back for a two. Knight finishes the match with a moonsault, pinning Briggs!
WINNER: Eli Knight
TIME: 2:05
THOUGHTS: Big man versus speedy fast guy in a microcosm. The right guy won this one!
RATING: ***

Post-match, Elio LeFleur, who will face Knight in the finals, is here to shake Eli’s hand, but they both get ambushed by Jasper Troy! Despite Elio and Eli working together, Troy still lays waste to both of them.

DarkState are walking in the back. We will hear from them next. Yay.

COMMERCIALS!

Lola Vice is getting work done on her hand in the back. Mr. Stone is here. He congratulates her on winning the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles, and he says that there is a match with Kelani Jordan on the table for next week if she wants it. Staff come and get the doctor and tell him there is a problem. They leave, only for Kelani to sneak in as she attacks Lola from behind. Lola screams about her hand.

The camera follows the action, and we see a bunch of dead jobbers, broken shit, and Keanu Carver holding a bar stool. Well, Carver did threaten chaos.

DarkState are here to talk. Dion Lennox says that he climbed the ladder last week and had the title in his hands, but he didn’t win the title. He doesn’t care if Drake or Hendry win tonight, he is coming for the winner.

Cutler James tells Tony D’Angelo that he better not come after DarkState. He issues you one final warning, so go and do your soul searching somewhere else.

With Lennox being involved in a singles feud, did you think that we forgot about the Culling? Speaking of Nico and Shawn Spears are on the balcony. They threaten DarkState that they only showed them a bit of what they are capable of two weeks ago. They will come after them when the time is right.

OTM are here, and if it wasn’t for Vanity Project, they would be the tag team champions. Hank and Tank are here now. They yammer about driving over the speed limit or something, and all hell breaks loose. In the midst of this, Tony D’Angelo sneaks in and lays out members of DarkState. His music hits, and he stares into the deep abyss of the hard cam. That was, well, that was something, Cotton.

The NXT Title is on the line next!

COMMERCIALS!

Mr. Stone is walking in the back. A ref tells them that they got stuff under control. Kelly Kincaid catches up to him and asks about the tag team situation. He says that Hank and Tank will face OTM next week, and the winner will face DarkState in Atlanta. Stone enters his office, and Shiloh Hill is here with a hockey mask on. He goes to talk, but Ethan Page is here. Hill leaves, and Stone calls Page champion. Ethan likes this respect, and he wants Stone to get him a challenger for his North American Title. Stone pitches ideas, but Page shoots them all down. Hill returns looking for something, and he finds a machete. Stone says next week, Hill will face Page for the North American Title.

We zap out to the ring, as Mike Rome does the in-ring call for this match!

NXT Men’s World Title Match: Joe Hendry (C) vs. Jackson Drake

Drake attacks at the bell and hits a Swanton Bomb! The cover, but Hendry kicks out at two. Drake continues the attack and he hits a standing shooting star press, but Hendry lifts him up off the mat and hits a press slam! The champion with back body drops, and he clotheslines his challenger out and to the floor!

Instead of taking time to rest up a bit, Hendry instead heads to the outside. Drake tries to slam Hendry’s face off the apron, but Hendry returns the favor in kind. Back in the ring, and Hendry takes Drake down to the mat. Easy distraction incoming, as we see Wren Sinclair and Kendral Grey doing pushups in the back.

Oh, right, a match is going on. Hendry takes Drake to the corner and rams his face into the corner. He does it in the opposite corner before he hits a stalling vertical suplex for a two. Hendry’s follow-up is for nothing, as Drake trips up the champion. He sends him to the outside and Swipe Right throw Hendry into the ring steps. Unfortunately for them, the ref saw this happen, and he sends Baylor and Smokes to the back. Drake pouts as we head out for break.

Drake is in complete control during the break, despite the fans believing in the champion. Drake throws Hendry into the corner sternum first and applies a cravat. He keeps coming back from the break officially. Hendry finally fights back with an arm drag and a rolling neck breaker.

The match resets, as Hendry lands punches and a big lariat. Hendry with the Fallaway Slam, the Kip-up, and the CLOSE UP! Hendry is going to rock Drake with the Standing Ovation, but he escapes but still eats the Angle Slam for a two. Hendry with a powerbomb, but a roll-up counter from Drake gets him a two. Drake with a misdirection knee strike. The cover, Hendry kicks out at two.

Drake to the top rope, but he leaps into the waiting arms of Hendry. He pulls up Drake and hits the powerbomb. Hendry plants Drake with the Standing Ovation to get his first title defense!
WINNER: Joe Hendry (Still Champion)
TIME: 11:10
THOUGHTS: Drake has a very bright future, but there was no real drama about Hendry losing the title in his first defense. A good match, not great, but good.
RATING: ***1/2

Post-match, Hendry gets jumped by someone in a hoodie. It’s Ricky Saints! Ricky lays out Hendry. he picks up the title, poses with it, and then lays it over a downed champion.

Quick cut to the WrenQCC girls in the back. Sinclair says that Sol and Zaria aren’t fighting for one another, but they are. As long as her or Kendal win, she will be happy.

The Frat Boys are here, and they’ll face off with Swipe Right next!

COMMERCIALS!

DarkState are in the back. They threaten all of their enemies. Cutler James tells Osiris and Saquan to worry about the tag titles, Dion to stay after the world title, and he’ll handle Tony. LOL good luck!

Hank and Tank vs. Swipe Right

Tank starts with Baylor and he gets the better of him. He tags in Tank, they cross up Baylor in their corner, and they look to be in control. But Baylor manages to free himself and he tags in Smokes. They work over Tank, but Hank enters the ring to even the odds. Hank does some gyrating and splashes Smokes and gets a two.

We see Zaria lifting a fixture in the back as Hank and Tank continue their domination of Swipe Right. HONK HONK chants as Booker says that this isn’t Evolve and Swipe Right may be out of his depth. Smokes manages to get a tag, Hank ends up in the wrong corner, and Baylor grabs Hank by the face as Smokes hits a running dropkick. That’ll take us to the break.

Tank gets the tag for his team during the break. He heads to the outside and then proceeds to run himself into the ring post. That post will never be the same. Swipe Right work quick tags and Smokes with a pin that gets him a two. Tank is taken back to the Swipe Right corner. Snapmare by Baylor, but he takes too long posing, allowing Tank to fight back.

Hank gets the tag and he proceeds to clean house of Swipe Right. Bossman Slam to Smokes, but he kicks out at two. Smokes punches Hank and talks some smack, but Hank decks him. Baylor enters the ring because he can, and he drags Ricky to his corner so he can tag in. Tank enters the ring now because he can and they send Ricky to the floor.

Back suplex to Baylor, he gets sandwiched by Hank and Tank. Smokes is back, but here he gets decked by a lariat from Hank. OTM and The Culling are here, as refs try to keep them separated. Jackson Drake is here! He hits a running knee strike to Hank, who gets rolled up by Baylor for the win!
WINNER: Swipe Right
TIME: 11:15
THOUGHTS: These guys just don’t hold my attention. Swipe Right have a great future, as does Drake, but Hank and Tank are kind of what they are at this point. They head out to NOAH and come back doing the same stuff.
RATING: **3/4

Myles Borne is here now and he wants to know why Hill is getting a shot at Page before him. Stone says Page told him that he wasn’t worthy, and he tells Borne to do something out of character.

Vic runs down more matches for next week’s show. Apparently, the #1 contenders tag team match is now a four-team match, as The Culling and Swipe Right are being added to the previous Hank-Tank and OTM match. Sweet.

Wren Sinclair and Kendall Grey vs. Zaria and Sol Ruca

The woman who gets the pinfall in this match will earn a future title shot against Jacy Jayne.

We start off with Grey trying to sneak in a roll-up on Ruca, but she kicks out at two. Ruca misses a standing moonsault, and Grey misses a running dropkick. Grey tries to go behind Ruca, but Sol reverses and then flips Kendal across the ring. Sinclair with the blind tag, and she rolls up Ruca for a two.

Wren grabs wrist control, but Ruca kips up and kicks Wren in the gut. She whips Wren to their corner, and she hits a back splash. She wants to tag in Zaria, she hesitates, but she takes the tag. She goes after Wren, but apparently the ref says Ruca tagged back in. Sol goes to pin Wren, but Zaria pulls Sol out of her pin.

WrenQCC send ZaRuca to the floor with a double clothesline. Sinclair with a crossbody block to the floor, and Grey follows that up with one of her own to ZaRuca. Grey manages to fight back with a springboard DDT. Sinclair and Ruca get the tag, and Wren is getting the better of Sol. Double underhook suplex and an X-Factor from Wren get her a two.

Zaria’s DDT is countered into a roll-up for a two. Zaria gets kicked into Ruca, which is a blind tag. She sneaks back into the ring and, in the middle of the action, hits the Sol Snatcher to Grey, and she wins it!
WINNER: ZaRuca (Sol gets the title shot)
TIME: 12:20
THOUGHTS: The stipulation definitely made this match feel different from other matches with qualifiers in place. The action was good, and, although I would have rather seen Wren or Kendal win, Sol winning was the right call. A great main event.
RATING: ****

Post-match, Ruca wants to help Zaria up, but Zaria refuses and broods instead. Fatal Influence make their way out to the ring. Jacy gets on the apron, and she exchanges words with the #1 contender for her title. And with that, we are done!
