Hey kids! Steve Cook here with you for the latest episode of WWE NXT on the CW! We’re going to decide a new #1 contender for Tony D’Angelo when Cruz Montana takes on Grayson Waller! Zaria will defend her North American Championship against Wren Sinclair, and there will be a lot more good times to be had during two hours on a Tuesday night.

If you already subscribe to the 411MANIA Wrestling Newsletter, earlier today you received some of my thoughts on AJ Styles’ kid, Chelsea Green’s injury & whether or not Roman Reigns is overrated. If you don’t already subscribe, do so right now! Yes, before we get to the show because if you’re like me you won’t remember to do this a minute from now.

If you’d like to chime in with your own thoughts on tonight’s show, feel free to join your fellow 411 Maniacs down in the comment section! As the legendary Larry Csonka always said: Have fun and don’t be a dick. When I’m not here you can catch me on social media from time to time. To be honest, e-mail is a better option and you can reach me at [email protected]. I’ll be more likely to respond there.

Then. Now. Forever. Together!

We’re in Orlando! We look back at last week. Kendal Grey beat Lola Vice in NXT Underground. Myles Borne & Tavion Heights won the NXT Tag Tea Championship from the Vanity Project. Mason Rook talked some stuff at Grayson Waller and started fighting with Kam Hendrix. Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana & Grayson Waller had some issues.

Lizzy Rain wants to know where Shawn Spears is. Niko Vance & Izzi Dame say they told her he would do this.

Shawn Spears & Lizzy Rain vs. Niko Vance & Izzi Dame: Vic Joseph & Booker T are our hosts, and Booker tells Vic to calm down about the whole Spears not being there thing. Lizzy & Izzi start fighting and the referee rings the bell. Izzi shoulderblocks Lizzy in the corner, then pulls her down for two. Lizzy with some forearms, then hits a springboard back elbow. Izzi tags Niko, which I thought was against the rules of a mixed tag team match. EK Prosper comes down and hits an Asai moonsault on Niko! Niko rolls through on a crossbody, EK with some chops. Dropkick by EK gets two. EK with a pump kick, Niko with a headbutt. EK flips out of a suplex and tags Rain. Izzi comes in and hits some kicks on Lizzy. Niko off the top with a flying headbutt gets two! EK turns a suplex into a stunner. Niko runs into a kick, EK hits a flop onto Niko and tags in Lizzi. She goes after Niko, Niko tosses her into a sitout powerbomb by Izzi for two. Lizzy with an uppercut, Izzi with one, Lizzy hits a cutter. The men are legal, Lizzy & EK hit running kicks on Niko and EK goes up top and hits the moonsault for three!

Winners: Lizzy Rain & EK Prosper (10:48 via pinfall)

Last week, Tavion & Myles celebrated in the locker room with their fellow good guys. Tavion gave everyone a pep talk and said they’d be fighting champions. Any place, anywhere & anybody!

Kendal’s ear is taped, and the medic tells her she’ll probably be cleared in another week. Wren is with her, and they’ll appear next!

EMILY AGARD is with EK & Lizzy. EK says the men’s division needs to step it up and that’s exactly what he’s doing. Before Lizzy can talk, Kali Armstrong grabs the microphone and walks out to the ring. She’s the difference maker and she wants her title shot. Kelani Jordan is having none of that and doesn’t care what Kali has to say. Kelani says she pinned Kali in the triple threat whether the referee saw it or not. Kali needs to get behind her in line for a title shot. Kendal Grey’s music cuts Kelani off before she was done. Kendal is holding a contract and Wren Sinslair is with her. Kendal is sick & tired of hearing Kelani complain. Kelani says everything she said has been true. Kendal says that Kelani got her ass knocked out in the Underground, and she beat Lola. Kendal hands Kelani the contract and says she can pick any time and any place. Kali is unhappy, but Kendal says she can get her shot after Kelani. Kelani says she won’t waste her title shot here with these ungrateful fans in Orlando, so she’ll take it at Heatwave. Kendal says Kelani won’t be able to keep up with her. Kali is mad, Wren takes exception to her hearing ability, and Kali swings at Wren. Wren ducks and Kendal gets hit! Kelani & Kali stomp Wren down and leave them in a heap.

Cruz Santana & Robert Stone are interrupted by Keanu Carver, who thinks new people shouldn’t be getting a shot before him. Keanu stares him down before walking off. Stone catches him to ask what’s up, and Keanu promises that Stone hasn’t seen anything yet.

Saquon Shugars vs. Dion Lennox (w/DarkState): Dion misses in the corner & Saquon hits a kick for two. Saquon gets kicked into the corner but fights back, uses the ropes on a rollup for two. That’s a bit iffy. Saquon stomps the hand and kicks Dion to the floor. Saquon gets another kick, some roll throughs and a punch by Dion. DarkState trips Saquon and Dion takes advantage. Running clothesline to a seated Saquon gets two. Sleeper by Dion. Dion punches Saquon down. Northern Lights gets two for Dion. Chinlock by Dion. Saquon springboards into a crossbody that knocks Dion off the apron. DarkState is scared off by Saquon’s baseball bat. Dion grabs it, swings wildly and misses. The referee takes the bat, meanwhile DarkState bounces Saquon off the announce table and Dion hits the suplex into a slam for three.

Winner: Dion Lennox (5:00 via pinfall)

DarkState beat Saquon down afterwards while their music plays and their lights flicker.

Robert Stone is on the phone with Rey Mysterio. Rey wants to connect with him on the AAA/NXT relationship. Rey will defend his AAA Cruiserweight Championship in two weeks, so Stone suggests a Fatal 4-Way to determine the top contender. Rey wants EK Prosper in the match, he’s impressed with him. La Parka is Rey’s next pick, Stone loves La Parka. Rey has to go, so he’ll let Stone select the final two competitors.

Women’s North American Championship Match: Zaria (c) vs. Wren Sinclair: Wren is somewhat showing the effects of getting beat up earlier, we’ll see if that plays a role or not. Her pose game is still on point, so I think she’s fine. Or ok, or whatever word you wanna use there. Wren with some quick rollups, Zaria with the shoulderblock, then she sends Wren into the corner and targets the left shoulder. Elobw in the corner, then a running boot that grazes Wren. Cover gets two. Zaria keeps targeting the shoulder. Wren with another quick rollup. Wren hits a face smash for two. Zaria with a pump kick for the two count. Wren runs into a boot, Zaria sends her shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Wren ends up on the apron and Zaria tries to choke her. Wren with another rollup, she sends Zaria to the apron but Zaria drops her arm on the ropes, gets back in the ring and shoulderblocks Wren down for two. Zaria with the armbar and facehold. Wren tries to get out but ends up in a short arm scissor. She gets out and Zaria goes back to the armbar. We go back full screen and Wren goes for a sunset flip. Zaria avoids that and bounces her off the mat. Zaria kicks away at Wren and Wren takes her down and fires away. Wren with some chops. Zaria runs into a boot, Wren hits a crossbody then a clothesline & back elbow. Suplex by Wren, that all ends with a knee by Zaria. Zaria hits a headbutt and a release German suplex. Wren with a sunset flip in the corner for two. Zaria hits the discus lariat, but Wren avoids the F5. Spear by Zaria, and we see Saquon & Dion fighting in the aisleway. They enter the ring and exit the ring. The other DarkState members have chairs. This has broken down, Wren dropkicks Cutler James for some reason, and Zaria F5s the distracted Wren for the three count.

Winner: Zaria (9:37 via pinfall)

Shiloh Hill informs us that his face is healing faster than his doctor has ever seen. He’ll be coming back a lot sooner than planned, in fact he wrestled on the live events last weekend with a mask. The regular fog is coming. He’s been researching Naraku and figured out where the mist comes from. He thought Naraku was more interested in the sky! Ah I see what he did there. Anyway, Shiloh seems in high spirits.

Mason Rook vs. Kam Hendrix: Booker still thinks Kam’s pose is the Heisman and it still isn’t. Mason with some shoulderblocks and a bodyslam. Baaaack body drop sends Kam outside. Antoher backdrop when Kam runs back in the ring. Kam sends Mason shoulder first into the ringpost, then kicks his head. Kam with clotheslines in the corner, then a rolling clothesline gets two. Rook fights back but Kam hits the spine on the pine for two. Kam talks some smack and bounces Mason’s head off the mat. Kam punches Mason to the mat but Mason fights back. Elbow in the corner and a kick by Rook, then a running crossbody. Splash in the corner, bodyslam and a senton by Rook. Release German by Rook, another splash in the corner. Blue Thunder gets two. Apparently Kam removed the turnbuckle pad during that splash. Sure enough, Rook gets sent into the exposed turnbuckle and Kam hits the Showtime kick for the three count.

Winner: Kam Hendrix (4:43 via pinfall)

The Vanity Project harass Stone for more title shots. Myles & Tavion show up. Next week, Jackson will have a match, and if he wins he’ll get a North American Championship match and Smokes & Baylor will get a tag team title shot. Both matches would be at Heatwave! Myles asks who Jackson will be wrestling next week, and Stone tells us it’ll be Shiloh Hill. The Vanity Project aren’t thrilled.

Lucien Price vs. Lexis King (w/BirthRight): Lexis has all his friends with him. The fans chant “OTM”. Stacks’ distraction leads to a strike by King. Price tosses King into the corner, King evades a move but then gets chopped after jumping off the turnbuckle. King runs into a headbutt. Stone wants someone to call him back. Wren & Kendal come in and Wren wants another match with Zaria. She offers to make a match at Heatwave a Unification Match. Stone agrees & suggests a tag match with them against Kali & Kelani next week. Wren isn’t so sure but Kendal says she’ll be medically cleared and good to go.

Jaida Parker & Thea Hail talk about Nattie. Thea wants some of Nattie, Jaida warns her that Nattie’s dangerous, but Thea feels good about it. She puts Jaida over as the first friend she’s had in awhile, and Jaida wishes her luck and will be there.

Romeo Moreno says that Robert Stone offered him a spot in the Fatal 4-Way match next week, but he values his team with Noam Dar too much and is hesitant. Noam tells him to take the match because it’s too important and could lead to big things for him. Tristian Angels comes in and says he’s the fourth man in the match and will take care of Romeo, EK and that ridiculous bag of bones, La Parka.

Next Tuesday: Parka vs. Moreno vs. Prosper vs. Angels! Wren & Kendal vs. Kendal & Kali! Shiloh vs. Jackson! Lexis vs. Lucien for the Men’s Speed Championship!

Cruz Montana & Grayson Waller are WALKING to that late 90s pre-match music! Tony D’Angelo makes his entrance, he’ll be on commentary for their match.

NXT Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Cruz Montana vs. Grayson Waller: Cruz keeps up his entering through the crowd deal. It’s a much shorter walk than what Jey Uso usually has to deal with. Cruz asks if they’re going to fight, and they fight. Grayson takes Cruz into the corner and lands some shots. Clothesline by Cruz. Cruz hits a vertical suplex for one. Grayson with a throat thrust and some elbows in the corner. Snap mare and dropkick by Grayson. They fight over a suplex and Grayson ends up hitting it. Cruz joins Grayson up top and hits the superplex as we go back full-screen. Cruz with some punches, then a flying clothesline. Tony no-sells Vic’s question and focuses on the match. Grayson with a jumping knee, but Cruz hits the Outline in Chalk and a big shot. DVD by Cruz gets two. Cruz misses a kick, but rolls into a cutter on Grayson for two. Grayson avoids Cruz’s finish by falling over. Cruz kicks him off the apron, but Grayson rolls in the ring and hits the flatliner for two. Cruz gets a near-fall but runs into a strike in the corner. Grayson stomps Cruz down for two. Elbowdrop off the second rope gets two. Grayson jumps into an atomic drop. Cruz puts him up top and hits him. Cruz gets knocked off the turnbuckle and dropped on the rope by Grayson. Grayson tries the rolling flatliner again, but Cruz clotheslines him! Cruz sets him up and…Zilla Fatu appears! He has a name, and he attacks Cruz!

Winner: No Contest (12:49 via run-in)

Zilla attacks Waller too and delivers top rope splashes to both Montana & Waller! Fatu stares at Tony D and says he needs that! I assume he means the NXT Championship. Our live event comes to an end without an outcome being announced. So long for now!
