Then. Now. Forever. Together!
We open with a parking lot brawl! Looks like Royce Keys & OTM going after the Usos! Jimmy & Jey both catch quite the beating on a car until Jacob Fatu shows up.
Joe Tessitore & Wade Barrett are our hosts! It must be football season! They got Jey’s face blurred like he’s on one of those Netflix true crime docs. Jimmy’s as well, we see referees & officials tending to them during entrances for our first match.
Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match: Raquel Rodriguez (c) (w/Liv Morgan & Roxanne Perez) vs. Sol Ruca: >: Liv Morgan & Roxanne Perez appear in the entranceway but don’t follow Raquel to the ring. Mark Nash provides the ring introductions tonight. Before the match starts, Jacob Fatu appears at ringside and calls out Keys & OTM. He’ll dogwalk all three of them! The microphone gets cut at that point and Jacob knocks over random things on his way out.
The bell rings! Raquel dominates early with elbows in the corner. Sol cartwheels out of s hip toss, does some handsprings and takes Raquel over before clotheslining her over the top rope. Space flying tiger drop! Wade, I can think of one other person on WWE’s roster that does that move, I think he’s dating Sol. In any event, Raquel fights back and pounds Sol down in the ring. Sol up and over, dropkick to Raquel, elbow in the corner, slips out of a slam attempt and hits a springboard crossbody for two. Sol has half a Tarantula on Raquel before kicking her out to the floor. Sol misses the moonsault & Raquel hits a running crossbody. We go to commercial!
We’re back! Sol fires back with some punches, but Raquel tells Sol she’ll never get the title back. Sol disagrees, hitting some quick offense including a modified backstabber. Missile dropkick off the second rope and a kip up by Sol. Spinning knee gets a two count. Sol goes for the sunset flip powerbomb to the floor, Raquel breaks out and pulls her up to the apron, Sol reverses a slam attempt and ends up hitting that sunset flip powerbomb. Liv & Roxanne run down and get kicked. Sol dives onto Raquel & Roxanne! Back in the ring, Sol wants to hit the Sol Snatcher, but Liv distracts the referee and Lyra Valkyria knocks Sol off the ropes! Raquel hits the Tejana Bomb and that’s the three count.
Winner: Raquel Rodriguez (6:12 shown via pinfall)
Joe & Wade talk about our main event for tonight and are wearing very similar jackets. It stands out more when they’re light blue. We see a video covering the history between Fenix & Penta. They’re brothers, they ruled AAA, they’ve fought side by side & bled together. They’re the most dangerous brothers in the world and have the biggest opportunity of their lives: the chance to challenge Roman Reigns in Mexico City.
Penta is WALKING backstage, as is Rey Fenix.
We see the remains of the car and blurred blood on the ground, then another taste of Jimmy & Jey being beaten.
Chad Gable is WALKING! He’ll join us next!
Chad Gable makes his way to the ring. He loves the energy and thanks the crowd. When he won the title he thought he would feel like he’d achieved everything. Now he feels like the work has just begun. Now determines his legacy and how he’s remembered. He started it two weeks ago with Rey Mysterio. He thanks the AAA fans for what they did for him and says he wouldn’t be champion without the Mexican people. Raw is returning to Mexico for the first time in 15 years, and Chad Gable will defend the Intercontinental Championship in Mexico City. He brings out somebody that he feels deserves a title shot, Dragon Lee.
Gable says that Dragon Lee’s match last week was inspiring, Dragon continues to be one of his favorite talents on the roster. Dragon feels the same way about Chad. Gable says that Adam Pearce has allowed him to determine who he’ll defend against in Mexico City, which brings out Ethan Page. Page says Gable only hands out title shots to talentless luchadores. If he wants a real challenger, Ethan will take him on. Gable says he told Ethan last week that he’s on the list, not near the top, right under Honky Tonk Man. Ethan says that Honky is one of the longest reigning IC champions of all time. Dragon gets shushed by Ethan, then tells him that he talks too much and says nothing. Dragon & the fans don’t believe that Ethan is better, and offers to have a match right here & now. Chad thinks that’s a pretty great match, and he raises the stakes by putting that Intercontinental Title shot in Mexico City on the line.
Dragon Lee vs. “All Ego” Ethan Page: Dragon with some ranas and a dropkick early. Headlock by Dragon. Ego shoulderblocks him down, then catches Lee for a powerslam. The fans chant about Ethan sucking, he’s always been popular in Cleveland. AIW fans loved him back in the day for sure. Page big boots Lee and punches him down before covering for two. Lee fires back for a second before Ego pounds him in the corner. Ego misses in the other corner and gets tripped down for the wrecking ball dropkick. Another big dropkick in the corner gets two. Ego knocked to the floor, Dragon hits the tope con hilo! Dragon stands on top of the barricade as we go to commercial.
We return and Lee is up top and misses a move but elbows Page and sends him over the top rope. Page yanks the apron out from under Lee, then hits a backbreaker off the apron for two. Capture cobra clutch suplex gets two for Ego. Small package out of the Egoplex gets two. Lee runs into a forearm and kicks Page. Backdrop by Page, snap dragon by Lee. Some kicks, tornado DDT gets two for Lee. Lee goes for a rana to the floor, Ego blocks and they both end up on the apron. Lee knees Page to the floor. Dragon rana sends Page running into the announce desk, then he runs into a Page strike on a dive attempt. Page sends Lee crashing into Gable and then back in the ring. Gable goes after Page and the referee talks to him while Page is undoing the turnbuckle pad. Ego sends Lee into the exposed turnbuckle, but the referee notices! Ego is shocked, this leads to Operation Dragon and the three count.
Winner: Dragon Lee (8:47 shown via pinfall)
Joe & Wade recap recent Solo Sikoa happenings, like when his acknowledgement ceremony ended with a Spike to Roman Reigns. The OTC exits his car and walks up to Jacob Fatu. Jacob lets him know what happened to the Usos. The last time he saw Royce like this was when they were younger. Royce is a much bigger problem than Jacob ever was. Roman tells Jacob that Royce is Jacob’s problem. Everything else is his problem.
Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring and the ones go to the air.
He asks for Cleveland’s acknowledgement. He’s the one true champ, the only champion that matters, and being tribal chief is a burden. Everyone wants what he has. He should be celebrating Rey Fenix & Penta and showing them respect because they’re earning it, unlike everyone else around here who bitches, moans and complains for a shot. We’re not doing that anymore. He gave Solo the opportunity to acknowledge him & serve the family, and he blew it for…LA Knight? He might remind Solo of the Rock, but he’s not their family!
LA Knight’s music hits so Roman can address him to his face. Let him talk to ya! He’s got so much going on, he should talk about Royce Keys and his goons, but Roman is repeating material from three years ago. He’s looking at Roman doing things the wrong way. He’s put tournaments he can’t enter and family members between them. OTC stands for One Tremendous Coward, but he can say it if he’s scared. LA dropped Roman on his head two weeks ago, and last week he was at home rethinking his life decisions. The ride starts right now!
LA enters the ring, but we see footage of Solo Sikoa being attended to by referees & officials! His head is blurred as well. Jacob Fatu happens to be standing nearby, LA starts yelling at him but he says he had nothing to do with it. Roman takes advantage of the situation and hits a Superman punch. He tells Jacob to handle Royce, he’s got LA under control.
We get another Lola Vice hype video, this time she’s on the beach in a bikini before kicking some ass in the gym. I am hyped!
Je’Von Evans vs. Dominik Mysterio (w/JD McDonagh): Before the bell rings, Dom attacks. Je’Von is ok to start, and he evades Dom and hits some ranas. Big forearm in the corner. JD goes for a trip, and Dom attacks from behind. Elbowblock from Dom. Dom gets tossed outside, and that’s where Je’Von dives! We go to commercial!
We return and Dom is back in control in the ring. A dropkick gets two. Dom kicks at Evans and JD headbutts him for two. Evans fires back and stomps Dom down in the corner. Some kicks in the corner by Evans, he vaults up top and hits the crossbody. Dom rolls outside to JD’s feet. Evans decks JD, Dom is sent over the barrier. Je’Von starts running around the ring for a dive, but JD runs him over with a clothesline and the referee calls for the bell!
Winner: Je’Von Evans (4:23 shown via DQ)
The two on one beatdown continues until Joe Hendry runs down and clears the ring. Adam Pearce is very mad about all this and decides to re-start the match as a tag team match. How does that affect match time? I don’t know, but here we go anyway.
Je’Von Evans & Joe Hendry vs. Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh: All four brawl on the outside of the ring. Joe tosses Dom into the barricade and over it. The fans & Joe egg Je’Von on as he dives over the barrier onto JD & Dom!
After a break, Joe & JD are in the ring going at it. Joe hits the delayed vertical suplex. Tag to Evans, Evans hits a suplex. Evans chases JD around, Dom makes the tag and attacks from behind. Dom suplexes Evans for two. JD tags back in and hits a snap suplex for two. Evans is in the Judgment Day corner and JD props him on the top turnbuckle. Evans fights them off and hits a twisting dive! Tag to Hendry, clotheslines and fallaway slams for JD & Dom. He hits the fallaway slam on both of them! Stage dive to the floor! Joe rolls Dom inside, Dom runs into a discus clothesline after teasing a 619. JD headbutts Joe from the apron, Dom goes up top and hits a frog splash for three.
Winners: Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh (6:09 shown via pinfall)
We see clips from last Monday when Stephanie Vaquer beat Roxanne Perez & Liv Morgan got beat up a little.
Cathy Kelly is with Becky Lynch! Before Becky can answer the question of why Stephanie helped her, Stephanie appears and wants to know why. Becky says she owes her one. Stephanie disagrees. Becky wants the first shot after Stephanie beats Liv for the title. Stephanie says Becky doesn’t deserve the title, the title deserves Stephanie.
Rey Fenix warms up and we see Rey Mysterio pop by to show his respect.
We see a video package hyping the Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker match at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Cathy walks up to Paul Heyman after the video and asks if he can give a prediction or spoiler for Sunday. He can give neither. Both men must win this match and neither can afford to lose. It’s the worst time to lose a match billed as the future of WWE. He respects Oba Femi, he witnessed what Oba did to Brock Lesnar up close. He loves Bron Breakker, he’s the hardest working guy there and will bring a fight like Oba’s never seen before. He knows what’s on the line, your guess is as good as his and we’ll find out on Sunday.
Sunday: Oba vs. Bron! Baron vs. Yachty! Charlotte, Alexa & Tatum vs. Jade, Michin & B-Fab! Cody vs. Randy! Live performance from Quavo!
The Judgment Day girls laugh about Sol’s misfortune before Dom & JD show up and tell them that Je’Von won’t be a problem. Roxanne wants Becky to interfere in next week’s match so she can get a piece of her. Liv tells them that she’ll have no problem beating Stephanie and runs down her catchphrases. They argue over tacos & nuggets to end the segment.
Joe & Wade recap Royce Keys & OTM’s attacks on the Usos & Solo. Joe Tess says that all three have been transported to a local medical facility and evaluated for multiple injuries.
Next Week: Liv vs. Stephanie! Money in the Bank Qualifying Matches Begin!
Penta vs. Rey Fenix: The Lucha Brothers face off and shake hands and exchange chops. Penta with a kick, Fenix with a rollup, some reversals and flipping. Rana by Fenix. Fenix hits the springboard rana. Penta dropkicks Fenix on a handspring attempt, and dives onto him outside the ring! We go to commercial!
We return and Penta has the advantage in the ring. Fenix hits the Goodnight Amigo kick, goes up top and corkscrews onto Penta on the floor. Fenix rolls into a superkick in the ring, then handsprings into a cutter that gets two. Penta with a kick, then a sling blade. Fenix rebounds off the ropes with a kick, Penta responds, Fenix responds and they both go down. Fenix covers for two. Penta superkicks Fenix in a handstand position, Fenix tumbles to the floor. Fenix is rolled into the ring, Penta with some kicks, Fenix with some chops, Penta superkicks Fenix for two. Tiltawhirl backbreaker by Penta gets two.
We return from commercial and Fenix gets a nearfall on Penta. Backstabber out of the corner by Penta gets two. Penta goes for the Destroyer on the apron, Fenix blocks, kicks Penta and comes in with a moonsault off the top for two. Kicks by Fenix. Penta tosses Fenix into a powerbomb that gets two. Penta goes for the Destroyer on the turnbuckle, Fenix uppercuts him and tries to superplex him. Penta goes for the Destroyer, Fenix lands on his feet! Fenix sets Penta in the Musclebuster, Penta gets out and hits his Driver for two. They’re both outside, Penta clears the announce table, he ends up hitting the Penta Driver through the table! Penta rolls Fenix into the ring and covers for two. Penta makes a Sacrifice with Fenix’s arm! Fenix yells at Penta to kill him, then hits a rana for two! Penta pops up and hits the Mexican Destroyer for three!
Winner: Penta (12:12 shown via pinfall)
Penta & Fenix embrace afterwards. Penta will challenge Roman Reigns in Mexico City on September 14! After Fenix leaves, Roman’s music hits! The OTC makes his way to the ring and stares Penta down. Roman hold the World Championship in the air, and Penta does his Cero Miedo taunt while Roman holds his one to the sky. Lots of hand gestures going on here as our live event comes to an end. So long for now!
