Jon Moxley on Wheeler Yuta Getting His Head Shaved: “He Stayed True To His Word”

AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley recently commented on his Death Riders stablemate Wheeler Yuta getting his head shaved on live television last month.

At the Grand Slam: Australia event in Sydney, New South Wales, on February 14, Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir teamed up to take on “Timeless” Toni Storm and Orange Cassidy. This wasn’t a standard tag team contest, as the stipulation of the match warranted the wrestler with the pinfall defeat to get their head shaved.

The closing moments of the match saw Toni Storm pin Wheeler Yuta. The Death Riders member initially tried to escape but was sent back to the ring by Jon Moxley. His head was ultimately shaved by Storm, Mina Shirakawa, Luther, and Orange Cassidy.

On AEW Close Up, Moxley spoke about Yuta getting his head shaved. He said that it takes guts to get your head shaved on live television and that Yuta can take heart from the fact that he stayed true to his word, adding that it’s a victory in itself.

“You’re only as good as your word, and him and Marina and Tony and Orange, they really put it on the line. They took a big risk. You know, a lot of people would not want to risk the humiliation of being shaven in the middle of the ring on live TV, beamed across the entire world in an arena full of people. That takes guts. So I think it’s a big win for everybody. I think it shows Wheeler’s character that he took the risk, and he stepped up, and he took it on the chin, and every day he looks in the mirror, he can know that he took it on the chin and he stayed true to his word. I think that’s a victory.”
